HELP! I am using comcast and have the mcafee included and when my computer did a scheduled scan it found a virus!

b/4 i call the computer people anyone know how to get rid of these w/out spending my gas money?

it is called: downloader.gen.a
mcafee program quarantined it and i am not the brightest bulb in the pack when it comes to computers

any suggestions?

If your Virus scanner found it, it Quarantined it. Rerun the virus scanner and see if it finds anything else.

When it quarantines it, it is basically telling you. "Hey Dumbass, You had a virus but I found it. I am putting it over here in this quantine thingy until you get off your butt and figure out what you wanna do with it." :lmao:

You can delete it from the quarantine.

Rerun the virus scanner and see what, if anything it finds. You might want to make sure to update your antivirus definitions first.

and then restart your computer....McAffee makes your computer run slow to begin with so you might just need to reboot

it's always a good idea to run all your spyware/adware scans in safe mode
restart your comp...and keep pressing f8 or f9 i forget which (just keep tapping both)

also in the start menu "run" and type msconfig
that will show you everything that is actively running
open up a google page and do a search on everything you see if it's suspicious...uncheck it to stop it from running, because some spy/ads wont delete because certain aspects of their roots are actively running inside other programs
