If you have ever visited Dr. Ramellini at the Center for Cosmetic and Laser Dentistry for dental work and used your insurance, plus paid your co-pay, you might have a refund due to you. I finally received my refund check for over $500 (after 5 months of them "getting back to me"). Recently, I found out out they have an office policy of not informing you of a balance on your account (until your next visit) and if you want a refund, you have to actually request it. They do not send it automatically. When you do request a refund, they will tell you that it takes about 2-3 weeks to process the credit, send them a fax (301-475-5486) requesting an immediate refund. I received mine in 5 days.
Here's how they operate...when you have dental work done, they inform you of how much you are required to pay and how much the insurance company is anticipated to pay. Should the insurance company pay more, or they bill the insurance company differently, they carry a credit on your account until you ask for a refund. They do not send a statement telling you that you have a credit.
This happened to me once before and after a year and a half between visits, I went in and found that my account had been carrying a credit of over $200 for a year and a half.
Give them a call at 301-475-2881 and ask what the balance on your account is. If you have a credit, request an immediate refund. Good luck.
