Dr. Zahir

Does anyone have any experience with Dr. Zahir, orthopedic surgeon from Georgetown? He has a new office in Leonardtown. I finally found someone who will take my worker's comp. I settled the case for just back pay and left medicals open back around 1985. The fusion has failed and I am out on disability. I don't want to have another major surgery at my age. Hoping medical science has come up with some new non-invasive treatment. Took the insurance company 3 months to find the file.

Since I am on PAC, I haven't been able to see a specialist for quite awhile. My old neurologist put me out on disability almost 4 years ago to hopefully slow down the damage being done (I used to manage restaurants) but because PAC doesn't cover specialists she dropped me. I have been fighting with Social Security since then. My primary care doctor has been handling my pain management on a temporary basis, but she now says I am getting worse and my mobility is really decreasing to the point that I need to use a cane. I am finally up for a hearing with SS but don't have a date. (I tried to do the SS thing without an attorney---big mistake).

Thanks for any info.

I took my son to them when he broke his wrist. This was many years ago. I forgot which doctor saw him but his opinion was the wrist wasn't broken. Turns out it was broken at the growth plate. I ended up taking him up the road to my ortho at the time. I have also seen Rozran for injections in my neck but didn't like his bedside manner.

I would think the best thing for you, is to see for yourself if you like Dr Zahir. Or maybe go on-line to see if there is anything about him. Typically, Doctors from Georgetown are pretty good. But I'm sure there are some not so good one's too. I wish you luck, and hope that you find the right one for you.

There is an article about him in the Winter 2012 issue of Healthy Living, which is distributed by Saint Mary's Hospital.
