Looks like nobody got seriously hurt, good to see. Hey, Newsnet, could you add controls to the montage thing, hard to analyze the pics when they keep changing. Would love to see the video. Is it possible he didnt see the red because he was distracted by being lit up? Doesnt look like the speeds were too high, honestly, doesn't look like he was going faster than 40-50, if that.

Funny you said that, I was going to do a poll and see what slide show people like better. The one in the story above, or this one --> Third Time Car Thief Flees Police | Southern Maryland News Net

At least it wasnt caused by speed..

oh, wait.

Well, my answer would be one the user can advance. BC, I wonder how fast he was supposedly going, and how it was determined. Looking at the crash, it just doenst seem like he was moving very fast.

...at the time of impact. If he took off from a cop, I'll bet he was in excess of the speed limit of 45. Probably saw the impending mistake, slammed on the brakes and reduced speed before taking out the caddy.

Perhaps he noticed the idiocy of his ways when the big red spot in front of him was quickly getting bigger and he slammed on his brakes and only impacted at about 15 rather than 70.

I want to know why he wasn’t thrown in jail for several days to think about his stupidity.

Could be, no telling without the video. Says the officer was travelling SB when " he observed the vehicle speeding". Did this guy blow by the officer? If not, how did it play out? The chain of events isn't very clear.

I don't think it's any coincidence that the cop saw something wrong in the guy's driving as he also decided to run a red light. If he did this knowing he was being pursued then he realized he was the target of the cop's pursuit; which means he knew he was doing something wrong.

I know I can judge pretty well when someone on the opposite side of the road is speeding when they are whiffing by all the other cars at lightning speed. It's called the theory of relativity.

so you are saying if he continued to speed he would have avoided the accident. This proves my point. It is safer to speed.

We dont know that, thats the question I have about the way it played out.

At 12:15 am, there could have been other traffic for him to be whizzin by, but it could very well be there wasnt.
