Evidently you don't understand what "slower" means.
Explain to me how if you're driving 55 and a guy that's doing 60 comes up behind you, you're not the "slower" traffic the sign is refering to.

I was quoting directly from the Maryland Department of Motor Vehicals.
I don't like it when someone is not keeping up with the flow of traffic. I was just stating the law.

Aps...you seem very angry....

I'm not angry, but I think someone is going to find out what happens when they sign someone else's name to karma

You didn't send me that Karma? I thought it was strange that it was gray.
Only newbies can send gray, right?

Correct on both counts. Now get your azz out of the left lane and quit blocking traffic

I'll speed up to 57mph.
What's so hard about being polite and getting out of the way of folks that want to do 58? Are your driving skills so poor that you find it difficult to change lanes when you need to? If so, perhaps you should consider attending a driving school that teaches vehical dynamics and control.

I wasn't. When I'm on the road, it's usually because I have someplace to go to. Folks that think it's their "right" to block traffic are aggravating.

NOT Politically Correct!!

have a passenger hang his head out the window and in a middle eastern accent scream, "run run, oh my goodness we are having no breaks."

this has also proven to be effective when trying to clear intersections.

so Ive been told. its not like I would really do such a thing.

Does it require eating a sandwich from cafe USA and getting crumbs all over a rental car? :lmao: We have to do that again sometime. Minus the sandwich, Cafe USA closed!

Seems common courtesy isn't common. No one seems to give a crud about anyone but themselves anymore. Me I get out of the way for others whenever safe, leave intersections and entryways clear for people to get in and out, STOP at stop signs, park in a parking space instead of the loading or fire lane, drive at 10 to 15 MPH in parking lots, and stop for pedestrians. I even let people in who are trying to merge. I try to remain considerate to all drivers. I usually don't get to angry with drivers. I does seem to happen more often the closer I get to DC.

One thing I have noticed since I started riding a motorcycle a few years ago. My driving awareness has gone up. I am much more aware of the traffic around me no matter what I am driving/riding. Side effect of fear of being hit.

Isn't that the truth.

I agree with what was said in the initial post here, and I think that driver education courses should NOT be a one-time thing. I think every 10 years or so you should have to retake at least a in-classroom course over a few hours going over the basic courtesy rules, like the left lane is for passing, use your turn signals, when to use your lights, etc. I really do think it's a good idea and am surprised it's a one-time lifelong thing, as long as you can see.

Just this morning I was making a turn from Rt. 5 south to Hermanville in daylight, very thick fog. I nearly began my turn but was being extra careful and approaching like a ghost was a car...WITHOUT headlights on! So, I flashed my highbeams quickly, partly as a courtesy to tell her to turn them on (she could see I was nearly about to turn), and to show her was an A&* she was. As she goes by she's throwing her hands all over like a lunatic, then proceeds to turn into the school just south of Hermanville. Probably had her kids in the back to demonstrate how to be an idiot while driving.

Was heading home yesterday and some bozo pulling a trailer attempted to turn left from 235(S) onto rt.4. while it was clogged with traffic. Dumbazz was sitting in the middle of the intersection, blocking ALL the northbound lanes when the light for the thru traffic turned green.

Legally perhaps (though MD also has a law against impeding the flow of traffic), but from a safety standpoint, there's no basis for using the speed limit as an argument for meandering down the road -- especially in the left lane. Safety depends more on road conditions and the flow of traffic around you than what the numbers printed on a sign say (to an extent). Now I'm not advocating speeding, but if you're traveling considerably slower than the average speed of traffic and refuse to yield, you're just as dangerous as the aggressive speeders. Note that the attached chart sourced from the MD State Highway Administration says nothing about posted speeds.

Good points but I do not think people are saying that it advocates going slower than the posted speed limit to purposely slow down traffic. Speed is the speed limit. For the ones that drive side by side, I think most are doing it on purpose maybe to either get the other person to slow down or too piss them off for riding their bumper.

I do not think going side by side and tying traffic is right but breaking the law and going over the speed limit is wrong too.

BTW excellent post.

I agree with some of your points, but are you telling me you never drove one mile over the speed limit...even by accident??? Hardly....wake up over there...

Nope, I am afraid not....but driving over the speed limit by accident happens....I am talking about the drivers that go over the speed limit and ride others because they are not going as fast as they think should be.

No I am not saying the drivers that drive side by side are right, they are just as much in the wrong as the other ones, what I do not understand is why drive so fast when you really are not getting anywhere that much quicker?

Damn..I go away for a few days and look what happens!! I do have to say that I totally agree with MDchick here. what a fun thread...

I was wondering how long you have been in here? Just asking but even though you two both have low posts, Under 50) and mirror one another it seems like you are just a MPD. Am I wrong?
