Can I just connect a mini HDI to HDI cable to my tv from the Droid and expect it to play or will it turn it into a device controlled only by the Verizon network?

I tried putting pix and movies on a thumb drive and now I can't use it at all without subscribing to some service. The thumb drive that is.

I have no idea 'bout that... but I am due for an upgrade on my phone, and Thing2 says I should get a droid. What kind do you have?

DroidX, Motorola, thats all I know. Has way more stuff on it than I need. It is cool though.

The software does limit what can be displayed out of the HDMI port. I think it is pretty much pictures and movies taken on the phone (pretty worthless). However, there are apps that will let you output through the HDMI port:
