Woman Calls 911 To Report Her Own Drunk Driving - Switched: Gadgets, Tech, Digital Stuff for the Rest of Us
Possibly and hopefully a first, a Wisconsin woman called the police to report herself drunk driving.Patricia Dykstra was driving her boyfriend, who was himself too drunk to drive, when he suggested to her that she should call the police since he felt she was too inebriated to be driving him home. She dialed 911 and then hung up explaining that she didn't like to drive and talk on a cellphone citing safety reasons. Police agreed after they called her cellphone back and she described her location, her car, and her home address. They found that she had been driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.14 instead of the legal limit of 0.08 and issued her a citation which she was happy to receive. Dykstra explains, "I don't know. I'm so surprised. I did it myself, really. it's just one of those things. I didn't think I was driving so good so I said, let's tell them I'm not driving so good."
