I have a dachshund/min pin mix. I've noticed lately that she is getting dry skin flakes/spots on her. Is there any kind of home remedy I can do to fix it? Thanks!

No, don't bath her alot. Do I put the fish oil in her food or rub on her? Sorry for such a stupid question... Is this something I can get at Petco?

Just buy the capsules wherever they're on sale...WalMart, grocery store, CVS, etc. Put one capsule in her food. If she won't eat it, poke a pin in it and squeeze it on her food.

They do have stuff at petco but the other way is probably cheaper.

I get fish oil on liquid form and drizzel a teaspoon over their food 1x a week. Works excellento, and much cheaper than buy pills. $8 lasts several months.

Someone told me to put 1 tablespoon Olive Oil on their food 2-3 times a week. Is that a good recommendation as well???

I don't think it's possible to OD on fish oil, but for a little dog I'd use less because there wouldn't be any point to using that much?

yes olive oil it will give the dog diarrhea. I would stick to teh fish oil does not give the dog diarrhea.

Anything you add to the diet should be done gradually, even changing to a new food.
Fish oil should also be gradual until you get to their optimum dose. If you do not want to use oil, you could also use flax powder. Flax and fish also have another benefit that general oils do not have, they tend to help with the little aches from arthritis when paired with gluscomain (sp) and msm. Oh and I have had good luck with coconut oil also on their food and rubbed onto their hair for conditioning.

you are not giving them 1/3 cup... for god sake... daymn... you are not making brownies ... you are giving them a capsule size amount.... no more than a tsp for a large dog... IF THAT
if you get it in capsules... give a small dog 1/2 if the liquid in the capsule
and if you are worried... start of using the 3V Caps 3V Caps - Dietary supplement for pets
oh and flaxseed has omega 3, 6 & 9 most people only give omega 3
