I'm a 1st time dog owner and was wondering if someone could help me out on finding a spray or something for my chihuahua's dry skin. The receptionist at the vet told me to get HylyT Shampoo and Spray in Conditioner but I cant find it anywhere and when i go online it says its no longer sold or backordered..
Please give me any suggestions.. Thanks:)

Don't bathe him...makes it worse. Buy some fish oil or salmon oil capsules and put one in his food. :yay:

I have only given him 2 baths.. One when I got him and then one when I got a special shampoo for dry skin from the vet.. I give him the fish oil every day in his food but its not making a difference. How long do you think until you notice an improvement?

Maybe a week or two. He could have some other issues...what are you feeding him?

You might recall but I'm the one who bought the chihuahua from that crappy back yard breeder at the market.. So he does have health problems but they are being tended to.
He is eating buffalo blue wet with dry mixed in and some dry puppy chow because he was originally on that so we had to take him off of it slowly.

Might just take him some time to get his system all straighted out. :yay:

bathing isnt always bad... Im mad that shampoo is gone now.. I used that on the GSDs and hounds and they had dry skin and it was great!!!! (and the hounds had to get a bath 2 times a month due to yeast)

What about the humidity level in the house? I know my daughter gets dry flakey skin in the winter if our house is too dry from winter heat.

this plays a large part right now.. and the type of heat used as well!!

My puppy had dry skin, and the dandruf from hell. I got the Grizzly Slamon Oil from Peppers Pet Pantry, and within 2 weeks, the dandruf is gone! Her coat is very shiney too.

As the owner of a dog with HORRIBLE allergies and spending plenty of $$$ on vet bills, hypo-allergenic food and OTC remedies - My groomer told me about Micro-Tek by Eqyss. You buy it online. They have the shampoo and the spray. This stuff is AMAZING. I have not had to put my dog on steriods in the past 6 months. (he was off and on them for the past 1 1/2 yrs) Just give puppy a bath once a week - per groomer - and spray any trouble spot areas in between. I cannot say enough about this stuff. Best $40 I have EVER spent!!!
