"dumbstruck"

Luke 9:28 About eight days after Jesus said this, he took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray. 29 As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning. 30 Two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus. 31 They spoke about his departure, which he was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem. 32 Peter and his companions were very sleepy, but when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him. 33 As the men were leaving Jesus, Peter said to him, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” (He did not know what he was saying.)
34 While he was speaking, a cloud appeared and covered them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. 35 A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.” 36 When the voice had spoken, they found that Jesus was alone. The disciples kept this to themselves and did not tell anyone at that time what they had seen.
Let me ask you.... If you saw someone you knew start to glow..., would you be quiet about what you saw?

What would you do if you went to work one morning, and your boss was "glowing"?

What would you do if you went to work one day, and your boss made a dead boy get up and join the crowd? They were used to the miraculousness of Jesus.

What would you do if you were at a church service that had gone way to long, and your preacher pulled out a couple of fish and some bread, then fed everyone in the church? Jesus did that, as they watched. They probably had to distribute the baskets of fish and bread. We know they had to count the baskets at the end of the potluck. We know they ended up with twelve baskets after the feeding of the 5,000 men and the people with them.

Simon Peter and the Zebedee boys saw Jesus do some really amazing stuff.... but when He glowed, I'm sure they were dumbstruck. Wouldn't you be? If anyone you know started to glow and a couple of people from you past showed up glowing too, wouldn't you forget how to talk or at least forget what you were doing when you looked up and saw the glowing threesome?

Now add to the vision, a cloud descended, and God talked!

I've moved out to Apache Junction, Arizona. We can see the Superstition Mountains from my driveway. Sometimes a cloud descends on the mountains. Those storms that settle on the mountains like that, generally carry wind, Verga, or rain, or so I have noticed. At times it has looked quite scary. Add a thundering God to that mix... can you imagine???

How could they not tell everyone?????

If I saw my boss glowing, I would have to tell someone!

If I saw two men appear out of nowhere, glowing, and then disappear in a cloud, I would have to tell someone!

I know I would sound insane when I was telling it. I know my family would just stop listening to anything I said, calling me a liar. BUT....

How could they keep this to themselves??? If they told anyone, they would be taken to the cliffs to be shoved to their deaths!

Can you imagine what Herod the Tetrarch would do with that kind of information?

Simon Peter and those Zebedee boys had to be overcome by a form of "dumbstruck"!
