dumped puppies

Animal Poor!
A friend of mine just called me from West Virginia and found 2 puppies dumped off at a lake up there where they were riding.
She lives down here but has some land and house they go to on the weekends.

Anyway, she said they were out riding around a lake and these two very skinny but friendly puppies about 4-6 months old came out of the woods and flopped down where they had stopped. She said they look to be Brittany Spaniels both male (not neutered) one is mostly white with sandy gold spots and the other has some black and a tri-colored face. She said they took the motorcycles home and came back with the truck and the puppies were still there waiting for them. They got them home and flea sprayed them and the puppies did great. She said one came over and flopped right in her husbands lap. She called the sheriff but doesn't want to turn them over to the local pound because she says it's a little po-dunk town and she's pretty sure they would get put to sleep. She says they are beautiful puppies and when she gives them a bath tomorrow she'll try to take some pictures.

so anyone interested in the two or know who I can contact to see about finding these guys a home? she will be bringing them back with her tomorrow

I'll get pictures ASAP... I haven't even seen them myself yet. :howdy:

pictures of the two critters sent to me...
ok what do these guys look like to you all? the orange and white looks like a Brittany to me but that black and white fellow looks mixed or something else... he has some long legs! They were found together so the finder assumed they were related...

Brittany/Springer Spaniels (even beagles) tend to roam. I found a Spaniel when I was living in my townhouse and put it behind my 6 foot fence while I went door-to-door asking who it belonged to and damn if she didn't hop that fence. I found the owner and had no dog to give back.

I take it the local shelter has nobody looking for lost puppies?

They were found scavenging by a grill site at a lake in West Virginia...

I'm not trying to be difficult. I just know from family having the same type dogs, as well as the neighbor of ours who had one, they can MOVE and gain distance. I am not familiar with the area to know if there is it is possible they didn't get away from a residence.

Either way, hopefully they will find home or a home. They are very adorable.

Discussion is good. :howdy: I didn't see you as being difficult....
I'm not familiar with the breed at all. I know she contacted the local sheriff and the local pound to see if they were listed as missing. She didn't get any response from them and was discouraged by the local WV town pound because they don't get many people to come adopting... and most of their animals are put to sleep straight away.
She didn't see signs that they were owned by anyone other than their complete friendly-ness... which is part of their breed so I've read...

*UPDATE*
Puppies have been adopted and will stay together in their new home... :yahoo:
