From listening I think they caught a few so far. Mostly it's all traffic related stuff like no insurance, bad tags, revoked license etc.

I am not famliar with such things but that doesn't seem to me to be the best place to put one of these. Too many liitle sidestreets one could shoot off of once you see the Checkpoint.

But I am sure some drunks will sit there wondering "Whats going on up there?"

Way to many cops out there to do that. There must have been 10 standing out there and then 2 in cars ready.

You probably right. I am ure they have something in place. Just hard to picture it without having seen it.

Listening to them on the Scanner. Running a crapload of tags and Drivers Licence Numbers.

They are smack dad between Cadillac Jacks and Buffalo Wings and Beer. Glad I aint into drinking and driving.

I went through one once.. and on the side roads there were cops sitting waiting for people to turn off i guess. It was sad to see parents standing out there holding pictures of those they have lost to drunk drivers.

Oh I didn't know there were parents doing that. Well, it's a shame but at least they are trying to bring it to folks attention that people do die. More power to them.

I've heard they do do that and it is very sad but it's great of them to want to save other people's kids from this.

I don't know if it's always like that.. I just know it was heartbreaking watching parents hold very large pictures of children up. It was my first and only checkpoint

Some guy just got out of a car and started walking away. A cop must have recognized him as being wanted. They are pulling him up now.

They need to head up to Rt.4 between 235 and the Bridge. Have a car on it's top up there it sounds like. Teenager. Folks have been called and medics on scene. I think he is up and about though. Not too seriously injured.

I wonder if the police actually coordinate this with MADD or something. If smcop does not chime in here in a day or two I'll see if I can draw his attention to the thread.
