Early Childhood Fair - Lexington Park

Families living in the Lexington Park Elementary, Green Holly Elementary, and George Washington Carver Elementary attendance areas are invited to attend an Early Childhood Fair being held Saturday, April 5, 2008, 12:00-2:00 p.m., at Lexington Park Elementary School.

The purpose of this event is to allow families to register children for pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, the Judy Center, and Head Start. In addition, St. Mary’s County Public Schools and community agencies will be on hand to provide families with resource information needed to prepare children for school. What I don't understand about this is the income restrictions. A family of three has to make under 17K for their child to go to HeadStart and to get into the Judy Center you have to be even worse off. They told me when I called that since I was employed and made well over the income and I was not homeless and my child has no developmental issues, that she will be waitlisted. How can a family of three survive on 17K a year?

I'm not sure how it works. Maybe gov't subsidized income isn't counted as actual income. :shrug:

Thanks, maybe that is what it is. They suggested that I keep her in daycare when I spoke to them. Hello, I am not about to quit my job to qualify, it isn't that serious.

It's scheduled for a Saturday afternoon so someone is bound to bring their children. Whether it's necessary or not I don't know. Call the number and ask.
