Instead Of Getting Nonwhite Students Up To Speed For Honors Classes, ‘Equity’-Obsessed Schools Give Up On Kids Entirely

The Wall Street Journal recently reported on the trend, highlighting controversies in several southern California districts over their moves to nix honors courses in high schools. It represents the latest example of how the left’s moves to enforce “equity” will result in lower standards and less learning for children of all skin colors and backgrounds.

Degrading Standards

The Journal interviewed the superintendent of the Culver City Unified School District outside Los Angeles. The superintendent, Quoc Tran, defined the issue of honors classes thusly:

Parents say academic excellence should not be experimented with for the sake of social justice. … [But] it was very jarring when teachers looked at their AP enrollment and realized black and brown kids were not there. They felt obligated to do something.

And when teachers “felt obligated to do something,” what did that “something” entail? Not giving the additional motivation and encouragement that African American and Hispanic students might need to take more challenging classes. Not providing nonwhite students with any extra tutoring or help they might need to succeed in those challenging classes. No, “doing something,” in this case, meant nixing honors courses entirely.

Pedro Frigola, a parent with two students enrolled at Culver City high school, hit the nail on the head when he explained why he opposed the district’s move: “I was born in Cuba, and it doesn’t sound good when people are trying to achieve equal outcomes for everyone.”

While he was being detained the boy said “f*** you, I don’t want to go to jail” when asked by an officer if he would cooperate as they transported him to detention. He also claimed that he had “more important places to be.”

Police say that before the attack, the accused said “when he comes back he is going to kill her” and that he “will beat her up every time she takes away his game,” after the employee, who has been with the school since 2004, took away the game.

The woman, who reportedly had several broken ribs due to the attack, was hospitalized but later released.

Controversial member of woke Virginia school board slams Battle of Iwo Jima as 'evil': Previously moaned that moment of silence for 9/11 attacks 'caused harm'

  • The comments were made Thursday by Fairfax County board's Abrar Omeish, 28
  • The remarks were made in reference to the Day of Remembrance, a day of observance for the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II
  • The holiday occurs on the same calendar day as the first US landings on the Japanese island of Iwo Jima, which began on February 19, 1945 during the war

A member of the same Virginia school board that came under fire for withholding information about students' scholarships has raised eyebrows by saying the Battle of Iwo Jima, a major US victory against the Japan in World War II, was 'evil' and should not have happened.

The comments were made Thursday by Fairfax County board member Abrar Omeish, 28, in reference to the Day of Remembrance, a day of observance for the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. The holiday occurs on the same calendar day as the first US landings on the island of Iwo Jima on February 19, 1945.

Already inciting outrage, the remarks serve are not the first time the 28-year-old board member has come under scrutiny. Elected into office in 2019 at just 24, the Muslim official also has a history of anti-Israel rhetoric, and has candidly said that the district's admissions policy has an anti-Asian bias.

Her father is also a member of the Board of Directors of a Fairfax mosque where three of the 9/11 hijackers had prayed before carrying out the heinous attacks.

Gay students in a group called OUTlaw launched a campaign to silence the speakers, arguing that “civility” is itself racist.

“As we noted to DEIE staff prior to the event, ‘civility’ has long been used as a white supremacist dog whistle,” they claimed. “We are pained by DEIE’s failure to conduct due diligence in awarding a fellowship to Bailey and Dominic and failure to heed LGBTQ+ student leaders when we told DEIE the exact intent behind the civility event.”

The students said that ADF was objectionable because the Southern Poverty Law Center deemed it a “hate group” in part because one of its employees allegedly said in 2014 that “The endgame of the homosexual legal agenda is unfettered sexual liberty and the silencing of all dissent.”

In response, activists covered up fliers for the event with ones bemoaning “hate groups,” a photo obtained by The Daily Wire shows. A student said the flyers have remained up for more than three days despite violating the university’s policies.

The flyers linked to a letter signed by 29 campus groups and 50 students that asked students to dress in black to mourn the fact that the event occurred.

Every punch and kick he did to her should be returned two fold to him - that's justice

Princeton senior reveals the unintended consequences of leftism on campus

The “unintended consequences” of the radicalized environment at leftist universities were pointed out by Fox News host Laura Ingraham who noted it is pushing students to the right.

She asked Hoffman about the firestorm surrounding his column at the New York Times. Leftists are livid over it. One writer cited by Ingraham claimed that Hoffman’s description of college campuses has “straight-up never been true.”

“Is there real free thought and free expression left at Princeton?” she asked the Ivy League senior who is being viciously attacked by so-called intellectual elitists.

“I wrote this piece precisely because I don’t think so. I disagree with that writer,” Hoffman replied.

“I’m a senior now, and through my four years, I’ve served in leadership for a number of conservative organizations on-campus, from College Republicans to the Princeton Tory, our conservative journal, and I’ve observed this trend that I identified in the article where apolitical students are becoming politicized and moved to the right,” he recounted.

Hoffman pointed out that students who come to Princeton that are already ideologically center-right or conservative become even more so.

What Is Going on in Our Schools?

The first video could be a parody, though it’s reportedly years old; some commented that this was a 2017 incident. The video is a student going ballistic on a teacher who probably slightly disciplined him by ordering him to his seat to start the class. It leads to pervasive verbal abuse, with the student dropping the n-word. His peers look on, some of them laughing. I don’t know if this was a prank—it doesn’t seem that way. But this behavior is wholly unacceptable.

The most recent video emanates from Florida, where a student beat a teacher unconscious for confiscating his Nintendo Switch (via The Blaze):

A massive student brutalized a teacher's aide Tuesday in an unprovoked attack at Matanzas High School in Palm Coast, Florida, leaving the woman unconscious and severely injured. His apparent reason for jeopardizing the woman's life: She had prevented him from playing video games in class.

According to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, FCSO School Resource Deputies at the school were alerted to the brutal assault on a paraprofessional by a 6'6", 270-pound student.

The student told deputies that he was upset that the victim had taken his Nintendo Switch away from him during class. WTLV-TV reported that the student also told officials that he would "beat her up" any time she tried to take his game.

The paraprofessional's attempt to spare the 17-year-old from the mindless distraction and to help facilitate his education evidently proved unbearable for the student, who can be seen in surveillance footage barreling toward the victim and knocking her from her feet.

Genderqueer shapeshifter witch hired to train school district staff

Thompson School District sought out this person for their expertise:

Silen Charlie Wellington (they/them)* is a sculptor of sound, artist of people, witch, genderqueer shapeshifter, mercurial story collector, and lover, among other things. Avidly interdisciplinary, they like to combine music with other art mediums, be that spoken word, visual art, ritual performance, loud and fiery eye contact, otherworldly and melting trysts, or something else entirely.

And about the training?

Language and statistics on “LGBTQ+ youth suicidality” were on the agenda, as well as “ways to be inclusive of non-heterosexual orientations.”
The training would also cover “sex assigned at birth vs. gender identity vs. gender expression” and “defining words such as: dysphoria, dead name, transitioning, intersex, asexual, aromatic, Two-Spirit, queer, nonbinary,” as well as something called “neopronouns.”

Much like critical race theory, they say they’re not teaching it in schools … however, they are teaching it to teachers and counselors to integrate into their classrooms.

'Get your hands off me': Furious parents of South Carolina student 'assaulted' by teacher on her birthday after she refused to recite Pledge of Allegiance sue high school, principal and state education department

  • Marissa Barnwell, 15, alleges that she was 'assaulted' on her birthday by a teacher after she refused to recite the Pledge of Allegiance
  • The ninth grader claims she was quietly walking to class when the teacher 'slammed her against the wall and yelled at her'
  • Her parents have since launched a lawsuit alleging Marissa's First Amendment and civil rights were violated

Shocking footage has revealed the moment a South Carolina student was 'slammed against a wall' and screamed at by her teacher for refusing to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

The parents of Marissa Barnwell, 15, have launched a lawsuit following the episode, which erupted on the ninth-grader's birthday last November.
The incident occurred at River Bluff High School in Lexington, where honor roll student Barnwell claims she was accosted while quietly walking to class.

She says her teacher, named Nicole Livingstone, became enraged after seeing the 15-year-old had not stood still as the pledge rang out across the campus' intercom system.

'I was just in disbelief,' said Barnwell at a news conference on Thursday, recalling that she told the teacher 'Get your hands off of me.'

^I believe that part of the reason I wore the Uniform and swore an Oath, was to defend Miss Barnwell's Right to not honor the Pledge of Allegiance, which was written by a Socialist.

'Revolutions involve violence'

A Maryland teacher, who described herself as "proud as f*ck to be liberal" and bragged about "indoctrinating" her students, called for an urgent fight against capitalism while adding, "Revolutions involve violence."

The teacher, Rebeca F. Rothstein, works at North Bethesda Middle School in the Montgomery County School District and believes educators should use their classrooms to turn kids into anti-racist activists. She was an avid TikTok poster until Fox News Digital reached out about her comment on violent revolutions; her account was no longer active as of Monday.

"As a teacher I wish we could do more with our students like teach anti-racism and how to be kind people. Does anyone else feel like… we can skip the math, skip the science, like we'll do that next year. Maybe this year we focus on teaching our youth how to be anti-racist," she said on TikTok.

Virginia’s largest school district pulls AP Government test question amid outrage

Fairfax County is Virginia’s largest school district, and one of the biggest in the country. A recent test question in an advanced placement (AP) government course asked students a multiple-choice question to choose an "accurate comparison of liberals versus conservatives."

Some concerned parents say regardless of your politics, you should be furious with the nature of the question.

The choices represented a bunch of stereotypical identities -- based on race, gender, sexuality and age.

The options written under the liberal column were: "Young, white males"; "Middle-aged, urban lesbian"; "College-educated black male professional"; and "White, upper-middle class suburban male."

Under the conservative column, the choices were: "East Coast, Ivy League educated scientists"; "Southern male migrant laborer"; "Catholic, midwestern middle-aged male"; and "West Coast, Hispanic teacher."

Fairfax County parent Rory Cooper tweeted a screenshot of a test question used in an AP Government course.

Stanford Law’s Maoists Get Angry Again!

The “social justice warrior” types at Stanford Law School, who recently took pride in shouting down federal judge Kyle Duncan because they just know that he’s wrong about everything, are angry again. They’re angry about the coverage of their “protest” against Judge Duncan.

As we read in this Washington Free Beacon editorial, they don’t think they should be either named or have their photographs shown. Two paragraphs from the editorial:

The school’s chapter of the National Lawyers Guild—the organizing force behind the Maoist horde of would-be lawyers—papered the hallways prior to Judge Duncan’s arrival with the names and photographs of the Federalist Society’s board members.
Yet when Free Beacon reporter Aaron Sibarium quoted the group’s board members describing the protests as “Stanford Law School at its best,” and named those board members, we got a note from one of them, Lily Bou, demanding that we remove her name and those of her classmates. “You do not have our permission to reference or quote any portion of this email in a future piece.”

They’re angry, bossy, and poorly informed about the law.

Meanwhile, Stanford’s administration has issued an apology to Judge Duncan, but so what? This is as if your son sets fire to the neighbor’s garage and you go over to say you’re sorry. Something ought to happen to the students who displayed their contempt for the norms of civilized discourse, but Stanford isn’t doing anything.
