Effective altruism, a somewhat niche but growing far-left movement, has received lots of additional scrutiny in the wake of the multi billion dollar Ponzi scheme that was facilitated by Bankman-Fried and his effective altruist colleagues.

SBF, for his part, used his Ponzi wealth to finance a D.C. lobbying group called Guarding Against Pandemics. ViaInfluence Watch, “the organization was created to support a specific proposal by the Biden administration to allocate $30 billion in federal funding for the containment of future pandemic outbreaks.”

But before SBF even dipped is toes into the perpetual pandemic industry, the effective altruism network had dedicated significant resources to it.

Open Philanthropy, the Event 201 financier, derives its funds from the wealth of billionaire Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz (he had the lucky fortune of being one of Mark Zuckerberg’s roommates at Harvard), with the expressed mission to advance the effective altruism movement.

I like to decide for myself what is best for me without others or politicians making it mandatory. their desire to help me interferes with my own determination to help myself.
