Just got my online statement. Ours went from $399 to $264. At least thats a little better. Still not as good as when I used to pay $180. :ohwell:
Must be nice. This is my last three months:

279.09
342.87
375.96

And I have a brand new Carrier Heat Pump.

I think what my problem may be is that I have 4 incandescent flood lights outside that I think are getting stuck on all night and during the day some times.

State officials probe high electricity bills

In addition to yet another astrnomical bill that arrived for this past month. Smeco also has rebilled for what they believe we were undercharged for their "Faulty Meter" that they just showed up and replaced two months ago. We did not request a meter test and I personally do not beleive we should be balance billed for a supposed faulty meter that was installed on our new home less than 18 months ago. We will attempt to fight that.

I'd throw a fit over a $180 electric bill. It's all in what you're used to.

Someone who's paying $80-90 a month and then sees that kind of jump is looking at a 100% increase in a monthly bill. If you're already paying $300 and it goes to $400 that's only a 25% increase.

Anyone that wouldn't be upset about a 100% increase is the idiot in my opinion. So lay off.

Exactly! Mine went from around $100 a month the highest being around $150 in the summer with the air on to over $300 the past couple months. It's not that I can't afford that much or that it's some huge financial burden it's the fact that it's WAY more than it's ever been and I've owned that house for 3.5 years. I don't come on here and biatch about it because I know there are a ton of people paying much more but that doesn't change the fact that I'm out the extra money every month. Just because other people are getting screwed over as well doesn't mean it doesn't matter that I am too just because my bill was cheaper to begin with. Bought a house that's well insulated and has oil heat, good on me. If someone else bought a house that's an energy hog that's their mistake.

Mine went from $608 to $503, no celebration here. It was $389 this time last year. If it gets under $300 I will celebrate.

My last three bills were........

560.93
608.06
503.82

At least winter is almost over.

I live in a small town house I down graded to a small townhouse instead of a house like i used to have because i knew the cost of everything is going up.

I'm gonna live in the basement.... running the de-hum-didifier makes it comfortable.
I'm in the woods in a house that is insulated very well and I love the heat. I'm fortunate but if I were running the a/c's like they were the first couple summers I'd be seeing a $400 a month bill. I could swing it I know but it doesn't change the fact that at it's highest it was never over $150. There's no excuse for the increase and it hurts many. I'm fortunate that it doesn't strain the pocket book but it still ticks me off.

I've found that it is a lot easier to save electricity in the summer than the winter.

In the summer you can open windows and have fans going to keep the air circulating and the house cool. That concept doesn't really work in the winter when it is below freezing outside.

In the summer, you can use a clothes line to dry your wash instead of using the electric dryer. Personally, I think that air dried clothes smell better but that is just a personal preferance.

Also, think about how often you use the oven in the winter verses the summer. In the summer, the grills are going and no electric is being used. Can't really do that in the winter and most warm comfort food comes from the oven.

Why can't you hang them to dry in the winter?

Yesterday I saw that the Amish off of Loveville Road had their laundry out drying. :roflmao:

Call me crazy but I don't like wearing ice. Props to the amish though for being able to do it and not complain.

Last month was the only month I saw a spike in my bill. All the other bills within the past year were +/- 60 bucks.

Last month I was within 5 kw of last year and my bill was actually lower (26 cents). I don't understand how electric bills were higher this Feb. which actually was warmer than last year?
Everybody is complaining about all the electric cos.

I saw a $100 decrease in February's SMECO bill. January it was $740.41. Feb was ONLY $632.78. :yahoo:

I'll be happy when Spring is here.
