HOLY SHIAT!!!!!!
:faint:
Yea, mine was over 600, here's the kicker. My hubby has been gone since January 22, which means less showers, less laundry, less electric use in general. I haven't changed anything else and mine was higher. This is why I got so mad that the OP was upset about $180 electric bill.

We kept the camper plugged in all winter - granted it only charges as need - yet every month we have used less Kw than last year:confused:
I will not complain about this but we've also added several other electronic things inside so I don't know what gives.

You should switch to battery operated, rather than AC-Powered, implements.

I think we figured a good bit of ours out. The stove. We've started drinking tons more tea than coffee. It takes a ton more electricity to heat the tea kettle on the stove than to run the coffee pot and we do it 7 days a week. We just invested in an electric kettle that uses about the same amount of energy as a coffee pot. :yay:

It's a sad state of affairs when I :yahoo: about a $275 electric bill. The savings can go towards my super expensive cigarettes. :killingme

Microwave the water in the cup. 1.5-2 minutes is plenty. uses FAR FAR less power than either the coffee maker or the electric range.

The electric kettle has the water boiling in about 2 minutes. Even if you put a quart or two of water in there.

Hi, I've been reading the forums for about a year now and just decided to join. Oddly enough I find this to be my first response. I was floored to see that someone in So. MD. has an electric bill under $200. I haven't seen anything below $300 in 2 years. It's not unusual for an electric bill to jump from one month to the next. The bill shows what your usage by month has been. If it looks unusual, have SMECO come out and check the meter.

A lot of us do. Mine hasn't been higher than $130 all this winter, and would be about $30 less a month without a hot tub running.

I'd think the microwave still does it more cheaply.
I put a bowl of ramen noodles in the the microwave for about 2 & 1/2 minutes to get the water hot enough to soften the noodles. For 1 hot drink it's about 2 minutes. I'm pretty sure that it will take longer for up to a quart or two of water, but I'll check in a minute. Regardless, the timing isn't enough of a difference to make a drastic change..

I am far superior than you. I have a Keurig, which gives me hot water in a matter of seconds. :diva:

You're super jealous arentcha! :coffee:

It's not so much the time as it is the power used during that time. I could be wrong, but I would think the microwave uses less power overall.

What's the wattage on the kettle? Microwaves are usually between 700 and 1200 watts.

Not really... We've had your coffee. It was pretty awesome, but Pixie has achieved perfection in steaming and frothing soy milk, with vanilla to put in our chai teas... :yum:

Just got my bill. I used less kilowatts than last March and it was $84. I think it'll go down more if I get a new fridge.
