Where I am tired of businesses paying someone to post 10 or more of their signs in a row, and a lot of clutter, I am pissed because I just paid $20 a sign for a business I am starting out of my home. They will only be up on Saturdays so I hope the workers paid to remove them only work Mon-Fri.

I wish this were the law is St Mary's I hate those trashy stick signs that litter every intersection. I have tossed many of them.

My understanding is that the state used to pick up the signs on route 4 but they don't work weekends so companies were safe putting them up Fri after 4 and picking them up Sunday night. Companies like Boothes and the Tree man put multiple signs at multiple intersections and yes, it did/does look trashy. The state then put it on Calvert Co to enact the law that has been on the books forever but has been pretty much ignored. Until now.
On Friday, I called CC Public Works and talked to a lady that was unsure how this was going to go! I asked if they work weekends and specifically asked about yard and estate sale signs and she said they would pick up ALL signs that were not permitted. She wouldn't give me a direct answer about weekend work but did suggest that the county commissioners were the ones I should direct my questions to. She also said if a commissioner called about signs, a crew would be dispatched to remove them. My husband had talked to one commissioner that said they were also targeting political signs.
I recently turned our in law apartment into a living estate/ downsizing shop and bought 10 signs directing people to my home; which is off the beaten path. The shop will only be open on some Saturdays. Signs go up Fri night or Sat morning and get picked up Sat at 3.
Where I understand the reason this is happening (Thanks Boothes and Treeman and people running for the school board!), the timing really sucks for my newest retirement venture!
