Simple solution. Never exceed the speed limit or run red lights. Those lives don't matter anyway based upon their own actions.

Private ambulances abuses the emergency vehicle privileges so much in Pennsylvania that they placed restrictions on all ambulances in the vehicle code. Even in emergency mode they are not permitted to exceed the posted speed limit nor proceed thru a stop sign or a red traffic control signal without prior coming to a full stop.

I know I've seen LE put on the lights and zip through a traffic light - and turn them off afterward. No way to know if this was abuse of the privilege, but it looked fishy.

I can see why this would be a MUST around here. Too many people not wanting to yield to emergency vehicles approaching intersections. Lost count of how many times I have cringed while watching near misses.

I think I might play judge and jury on how fast I need to get to hospital on who I might be hauling around.

I don't think it's not wanting to has much as not aware of. Done some self testing, with the combination of sound proofing, A/C, and radio, do not hear the siren till they are right behind me.
