I agree to a small part. I still want people going into work to work, the work from home idea keeps people from collaborating for good or bad. I do like the idea of moving the various functions out of DC though. There's no reason that the FBI can't be in Mississippi, or the FDA in Nebraska, and I think moving the INS down to Texas where they can be impacted by their decisions would be great. The idea of having the entire seat of federal power being within the range of a small tactical nuke is stupid, especially with more countries having them. Let's leave congress and the Executive branch but move everything else out to the rest of the country.

It would be fun to watch the ultimate Pork Barrel lobbying for the next half century. The DOE can move to Nancy Pelosi's district. The DOD can go to that war monger Bernie Sanders' Vermont. Send FEMA to the Gulf Coast since they will be there anytime it rains. Give the IRS, and Treasury to Chuckie Schumer.

I'm sure Uncle Steny will bring home some delicious bacon.

There was talk of this for at least 20 years, and not much happens.
Remember, during Trump, some agency (BLM? NPS?) tried to move headquarters to Utah (if I remember correctly), and the hissy storm that erupted?
There were more GS14s threatening to quit and die of hunger than there were trannies threatening suicides. Same energy though. Hmmm…

What is Washington D.C.:

In 1791, the commissioners named the city after Washington and said that it would lie in the Territory of Columbia. The name “Columbia” was a female personification of “Columbus.” It was a term that was used to refer to the original thirteen colonies and the entirety of the United States up to that time.

The Framers realized that whatever capital was settled on needed to be a Federal City, not one controlled by a state government. No state should have an advantage over the other states, and the federal government needed to be in charge of its own house.

Land was ceded from Virginia and Maryland to create the federal city. The land from Virginia was decided to be unneeded and has already been ceded back to Virginia. If at any time additional land is unneeded it would be ceded back to it's original owner Maryland.

Many of the votes for Biden's latest boondoggle, The Inflation act were phoned in. So, they are already voting without being there.

They could just house different departments in some of the buildings abandoned by businesses that the covid shutdowns caused.

And those are all Executive Branch entities.
True, Whitehouse then.

There’s a whole lot of them that won’t move from DC and the only reason they have gov jobs is they already live there.

That's true , but if you take into consideration the money they are making with their AA jobs and their chances of actually finding a real job that pays as well, I think most of them will go.
