I didn't know where to post this, so Chit Chat wins. At work we're removing the snow plow from the front of our MF 1030 and I'm stopping at Guy Implement this morning to pick up some weight for the front of the tractor. My question is, how much weight is necessary? We haven't had much problem moving huge boats with the front plow for counter balance. Guy's said their weights are around 100lbs each. We've decided to start out small and add only one weight. Is this a good starting point? Is it enough? @TPD @Gilligan @SGI

Without knowing the weight of the plow and how far out in front of the cassette weights the plow cg is....hard to even guess. My MF 1020 needs 200# on the front to deal with the weight of the finishing mower on the back when it’s lifted on the three point...

What Gilligan said. But based on internet pictures showing the weights' location and the plow (assuming it's the actual plow and not a front end loader), I'd guess 100 lb. just won't be adequate. You have a big guy handy? Put him on the front for a trial run.

I don’t think 100# will be enough. Maybe 500# to start. But rather than buy weights, try filling front tires with liquid.

As a side note we put 800# of weight on the rear of our tractor to counterbalance the snow plow on the front.

Us launching a 57' test craft at the Piney Point ramp. I'm the good lookin' feller in all the pictures.

That appears to be a trailer made just for that watercraft. Interesting setup. Based on the tow vehicle I’m guessing not a lot of combined weight?
We designed and built the trailer and the watercraft...all right here in Piney Point.

The craft was an unqualified technical success. Of course the Navy/MARAD/ONR never followed through and built any.

One of my favorite underway pics..

That was a 1/20 scale model of a proposed high-speed "sea train" to support naval logistic requirements. Achieved well over 50 knots (full scale) using conventional/currently available naval propulsion systems.
