Mass. couple who led gay marriage fight to divorce

BOSTON (AP) - A lesbian couple who led the fight for gay marriage in Massachusetts has filed for divorce. Julie and Hillary Goodridge were among seven gay couples who filed a lawsuit that led to a court ruling making Massachusetts the first state to legalize same-sex marriages in 2004. The couple became the public face of the debate in the state and married the first day same-sex marriages became legal.
The divorce case was filed last week in Suffolk Probate and Family Court and was not unexpected. The couple announced they were separating in 2006.

Interesting comments on the page....I picture backwoods inbred folks when I read some of them :killingme
This one was one of my favorites:
"Who gets the house and kids?" That is a great question. If it was a man and womyn marriage the wife would get the kids, alimony, child support, house, car, and the man would get.....! Now this will be funny...I guess it all depends on who was the "wife" in the marriage and who was the "man." I am thinking I am liking this circus!!

It's news to me that a man never gets custody...or alimony...child support...etc

People are dumb.
I WAS curious though, how the divorce thing would work out since it was bound to happen at some point...so I am a little bit joyed to see this one be public, just because I'm curious how it goes.
