The Equine Studies Program at the University of Maryland will be holding a Horse Pasture Walk on Thursday, April 2, 2009 from 5:30-7:30pm at their new Equine Rotational Grazing Demonstration site located in Ellicott City, MD. Participants will learn about best management practices that promote productive pastures while being environmentally friendly. Horse, forage and conservation experts will discuss pasture layout, establishment, and management, as well as safe fencing options and technical and cost-share assistance programs available to horse owners. The horse pasture walk is supported by the Conservation Innovation Grant Program of the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service.

This event is open and free to the public, but registration is required to guarantee a copy of the education materials. Contact Edith Silvious at 301-405-5781 or esilviou@umd.edu to register. The address of the location is: CMREC-Clarksville, 4241 Folly Quarter Rd., Ellicott City, MD 21042. Deadline for registration is March 26, 2009.
