"Ever since they overturned Roe v Wade, I can get pregnant just by having sex"

Another "I remember". I remember a day where if ya got a girl pregnant, you were expected, demanded, to marry her. Or, have yer self a shotgun wedding. And if a girl did get pregnant outside of marriage, she was basically ostracized, especially if the man didn't hang around. Shaming the parents as well with all the quiet whispers in the back of the church, the hushed talk in the grocery store check out line, etc..

It is nice to see that some of the upcoming generations still do believe in the old ways, in their way.

The funniest one was the pregnant lady at the end, standing profile, saying "Amy Coney-Barrett personally did this to me," as she points at her swollen belly. :killingme

Dad told me when I was coming of age in the mid-70's that if I got a girl pregnant, I was marrying her. He meant it and I believed it.
LOL, Our's told us he wasn't having any illegitimate grand-kids. He died at 84 with no illegitimate grand-kids.

Well, that's the way I was raised, as well as many of my friends. Matter of fact, many were the conversation, amongst friends, of being scared shiatless of getting a girl pregnant. And, the talk, while growing up, of those girls that did get pregnant as being ho's, having low moral character, etc..

Of course nowadays, it's completely acceptable, and pretty much the norm, to have premarital sex. And if it results in a pregnancy, most often, the punishment, at least for the guy if he doesn't marry her, is a minimum of 18 years of confiscatory child support payments. That alone today should scare the hell out of most men.

It might not have been taboo everywhere, but sure was where I grew up.

How is it confiscatory? It takes two to tango.

It does take two. Just tell that to the judge that settles the child support and custodial case. Most often it is never in the favor of the father. 30-40% of the father's income via wage garnishment paid to the State then transferred to the mother. That is confiscatory.

Funny that my Father got full custody of us in 1962, Funny how I had Parental Rights and main custody of my son, with my divorce in St Marys co.

Confiscatory, lol
Don't want to pay child support, don't bust up in there. wear a rubber.

Oh and child support is done mathematically in Maryland. Its the fairest way to figure support out.

Maryland follows the "Income Shares Model," which estimates the amount of money parents spend on their children while the family lives in the same household—called "combined adjusted actual income." This amount is divided between the parents based on earnings.

While your experiences are valid, they are anecdotal, and do not represent the whole. Just as are mine. However, my experiences seem to be mirrored by many others. As may yours. But in general, in the past, premarital sex, and pregnancies outside marriage, was frowned upon and seen as moral turpitude.

Of course a condom should be used, never said it shouldn't. I was referring to the irresponsible, or to those caught up in the hormonal moment. The "math" was a generalized statement encompassing the whole of today's US, not specifically to Maryland.

Times have changed since your father's time. Today, men, in general, are well behind the 8-ball when it comes to custody rights and child support maintenance as the system, the courts, favors women over men.

I will agree with this to a point, my second was done in Leonardtown with Master Harris on the Bench. He did thank me for driving from Indiana to be at both court hearings. He made sure as my own attorney I understood the entire process.
I would suggest that more "Men" show up at the court hearing. Maybe just to ask for 50-50 custody.
No parent has the right to cry about support, when they only have the child, children every other weekend.

Yes in the old days marriage was something strived for before the birth of children.
Today they live together have 2 or 3 kids and if they get married the kids are ringbearers and flower girls.

Today catholic parents in Massachusetts are turned down as foster parents or adoptive parents for being Catholic,, believing in marriage and that there are only 2 sexes. https://redstate.com/bonchie/2023/0...efs-about-transgenderism-and-marriage-n789414

Harris was on the bench for my first one too. The child support was never an issue..its cut-n-dry rubber stamped in MD...by the on-line calculation and have a nice day.

Not only that, but studies have found that a) women cheat as much, if not more than men, and b) 33% of men are not the biological father to one or more of their children. The sample size: 300+ a year.

The latter does not prove the former, but it's a red flag.
