Evergreen Trash Service

I'm considering getting rid of WM and their ever rising costs of trash disposal and trying this "Evergreen" Trash Service.

I like in California, MD. Can anyone give me a review of their service? Thanks in advance.

Call WM and tell them they charge too much, they will reduce your bill. I pay the same as I would with Evergreen.

I told them we were retired and wanted the bill lowered a year ago. They didn't. And now they just raised it another $10 per quarter. We only get one pick up - once a week (one bin) and they are charging us $145.00 a quarter! That is crazy.

Damn I get two pickups a week and just paid $87, call them and tell them you are cancelling if they don't lower it, you will need the name of another company and their price. Back when I did it I used that company that just stopped picking up peoples trash, Bay something or other....

Why not cancel all together and take your trash to the transfer station on Saint Andrews?

Depends on your needs...

I been with Evergreen a short time. I don't generate much trash so I have their once a week deal. For me, even that frequent a pick up is too often. It's $60 a quarter. Sometimes they are late, but they have consistently picked up... although I have only had them for 3 months... about 12 pickups.

I still go to the transfer station because I have gotten use to recycling. Now I can't stop. I go there every 6 weeks. Recycling pickups with WM are astronomically expensive. I don't think Evergreen offers recycle pickup... but I am not sure. You might check.

Morning trips during the week to the transfer station are best... as previously described.

If you can throw your plastic bottles, corrugated cardboard, newspapers, electronics, oil, shoes, batteries, clothes and metal into the landfill without a guilty conscience, trash collection is your best bet. If not, the transfer station is the way to go.

I think I've had three companies in the past 5-6 years (including WM and Evergreen). Can't remember the 3rd but they all equally suck. Evergreen came through the neighborhood and pretty much bought everyone out by quoting a very low rate (pulling customers from WM). After less than a year - their price went up. A little while longer - their service started to decline. Switched over to WM. Started OK but then we had our pickup days changed 2-3 times over the course of a year. One time they just stopped coming and upon calling - we were terminated because we had a balance that we were aware of. We had previously paid the balance of a 6-month block and we weren't aware that we were past that. We caught it up and got a new bill from them with increased rates for a full year. We divided it up by 12 months and made the first payment when due. Next month, same thing. Service stopped again because we hadn't paid THIS bill in full. More or less, we weren't getting monthly (or even quarterly bills) and they wanted full payment. So I cancelled entirely. They're all scams.

I bought a new 50-g trash can (so I now have two) and I simply run the cans up to the Charles County landfill every week or two. I hit the scales around 9AM and it's smooth sailing. Thus far, the highest charge was $5 and that was two weeks worth of trash. I figure I normally hit the dump every 2-3 weeks anyhow for normal house stuff so it's not anything terribly out of my routine. Been doing this for about a year now and I am good with it.

We use Evergreen, I get twice a week for $75 a quarter (once a week was $72 so I figured what's $3 more) I personally haven't had any issues. They haven't raised their rates & I believe they do offer recycling now but I don't know how much that is.

i have WM and get two trash pickups and 1 recycling pickup a week. Both are 96 gallon cans. We only ever come close to filling the recycling bin if we have a lot of boxes. We pay about 320/year.....

There must be about 4-5 threads already about trash service. Been using Evergreen for about 9 months, they have been late a day at the most a couple of times, but consistent service. 60 every 3 months for 1 pick up a week. You need to hold your ground when you call WM back up, if they won't lower your rate simply say stop my service you crooks.

I switched to Evergreen over a year ago because Waste Management's rates were too high and their service was absolutely horrible. They would not pick up my trash, and claimed weekly that I did not have it out at the right time even though in the end, I left it by the road 24/7 so they couldn't miss me. Maybe my road was out of their way? No idea, but I was done with them. My trash can sat by the road for 2 solid months before they managed to pick it up after I cancelled my service. Evergreen has been great so far. Even though my 1 year intro rate (maybe $60 per quarter) is up, my price has not gone up, and they pick up my trash twice a week if it is out even though I am paying for one pickup a week since I don't generate much trash. They don't come at the same time every week on my pickup day - could be early morning to late afternoon - but they haven't missed one pickup.
