Excellent Dessert Wine

Railroad

Routinely Derailed
A friend came by last night and brought a bottle of Bartenura Moscato. This particular wine is the product of the Provincia di Pavia in Italy. I normally don't enjoy wine at all, and never buy it because of that, but this wine is so good that I went and bought a case of it this morning. It's a sparkling, sweet wine that is served chilled. This stuff is so smooth and so mellow!! It sells for about $17 a bottle. Acccording to the wine & spirits proprietor, the wine was originally sold in very limited distribution, but sold so fast they couldn't grow the grapes fast enough to keep up with the demand. As I can well understand, he said it's considered to be one of the best of its kind in the world.

I am enjoying a Mirassou Pinot Noir right now. Not really into dessert wines. Sorry :ohwell:

Great responses! Thank you all.

Is there a question awaiting a response in there?

I love Moscato wines! Thanks for your recommendation -- I'll see if I can find that one somewhere in Calvert.

If you liked Batenura, you should definitely try two called "Little Bosco" and "Voulet". The Voulet is the better of the two but harder to find as it's only imported twice a year from Italy I believe. However both are very good if you like sweet sparkling wines.

I'm so wine dumb. I want a red wine that is sweet. Would that be a "dessert wine"?

I get a bottle of sparkling rose. It's not red per se, but rose, and more like a champagne than wine. The one I get is a bit pricey, but worth it. I'd give you the name but I gave away my last bottle and can't remember the name, other than it's french.

If you have a chance, stop in at Blue Wind and tell them what you're looking for.

OMG, Voulet is my very favorite and it is SOOOOOO hard to get. I stock up whenever/wherever I can find it.

I'm right there with you. I normally just buy a case or 2 when I can find it because most stores do a discount when you purchase a case of 12 and even that doesn't last very long

Not much on wine, but I've been know to enjoy a fine bottle of Boones Farm a time or two. My brother's S/O brought me a bottle of chocolate wine this past weekend and I must say it is smooth and quite tasty... I just finished 45 minutes on the eliptical and it is all I can do not to poor myself a glass...:yum:

We have a deal! I live in Charles County so I'm not sure as to how convenient that is for you, but I'm assuming that all the area stores probably get them around the same time with there only being the 2 shipments. So in a very long-winded answer, I will absolutely let you know when and where I see it. :huggy:
