Municipal Lifeguard Training Program
To become a certified lifeguard in New York City, you need to complete the Municipal Lifeguard Training Program123. The program is free and consists of 40 hours of swimming and rescue techniques, first-aid, and CPR123. You must pass the qualifying test to enter the program. The training is a 16-week program that consists of 40 hours of training, a CPR course, and final swimming tests. You must also achieve certification in Basic First Aid, CPR/AED (Professional Level) and Administering Emergency Oxygen. Other certifications (such as Red Cross) will not be accepted.
