Exodus 15:7 “In the greatness of your majesty

it consumed them like stubble.

the waters piled up.

Even though I don't much care for poetry, I do like the irony in verses 9 and 10. To me it describes Pharaoh as a blowhard who God just blew away like a piece of lint or dust.

In verses 9 and 10, the sovereignty of God is seen in His ability to prevail, as a mighty warrior over the Egyptians, the mightiest army on the face of the earth. They arrogantly pursued the Israelites, confident of victory (v. 9). In spite of their power and confidence, God simply “blew them away,” causing them to “sink like lead” in the sea (v. 10). The greatest army on the face of the earth was no problem for the God of Israel to dispose of.
This is what the easy English commentary has to say.
The enemy was too proud about what he could achieve. Those brief sentences show the enemies thoughts. They show that he was greedy. They are like the rapid orders that an officer would shout to his soldiers.

Wait, that statement, "The Egyptians drowned quickly" strikes me this morning. I'm always rooting for the Israelites when I'm reading the old Testament. I forget that God created everything and everyone. The Egyptians were God's creation too. It's good that they drowned quickly. How horrible it would have been for them to struggle against the sea. The force of the sea returning to it's banks would have been forceful like a Tsunami wave. There was no warning so they wouldn't have been anticipating their own demise. I'm glad it was a quick death for them.... caused by that little god Pharaoh, and carried out by the Just God.
Please pray for my dear friend Sylvia. Her sister passed away night before last. They were very close and Sylvia, a widow herself, is very very sad. She knows her sister knew the Lord, but she will miss her. Please pray for the Comforter to help my dear friend Sylvia.
