All Adults 18 & Older Now Eligible

LEONARDTOWN, MD (November 19, 2021) – The St. Mary’s County Health Department (SMCHD) has updated the eligibility criteria for local COVID-19 vaccine booster clinics in accordance with updated authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. All individuals 18 years of age and older are now eligible for a booster dose after completion of primary vaccination with any FDA-authorized COVID-19 vaccine.

The following populations are now eligible to schedule an additional/booster COVID-19 vaccine dose through SMCHD:

  • Individuals with compromised immune systems (Pfizer or Moderna recipients):
    • 3rd dose, at least 28 days after 2nd dose
    • 4th dose, 6 months after the 3rd dose
    • When registering for a vaccine appointment, please mark “yes” to the immune-compromise question
  • All individuals age 18 and older:
    • Johnson & Johnson recipients, at least 2 months after 1st dose
    • Pfizer or Moderna recipients, at least 6 months after 2nd dose

Eligible individuals do not have to receive the same type/brand of COVID-19 vaccine as their initial vaccination; each of the available COVID-19 vaccines may be “mixed and matched” for the additional/booster dose after completion of the primary vaccination.

For more information or to make a COVID-19 vaccination appointment, please visit smchd.org/covid-19-vaccine or call the SMCHD COVID-19 Community Hotline at (301) 475-4330 or St. Mary’s County Library at (240) 523-3340. Please review the allergy guidance and the FAQs for SMCHD COVID-19 Vaccination prior to registering for a vaccine appointment.

“Booster doses give adults who completed their primary vaccine series several months ago a chance to better protect themselves from COVID-19 infection and complications,” said Dr. Meena Brewster, St. Mary’s County Health Officer. “This is especially important as we head into a season of holiday gatherings and colder weather.”

I just love how you can "mix and match" your very own covid booster. Coming soon to a mall near you, the new "Build a Booster" store, every 4th build free.

Lowe's sent out their take on the OSHA guidelines, after federal courts put the on hold.

...and, it looks like Lowe's is going to ignore the court. Folks who are unvaccinated or who do not provide the info will be placed on unpaid leave of absence.

I looked up the HIPAA regulations, and it is NOT illegal for them to require proof of vaccination, even if the OSHA ruled get completely shut down.

A lot of these places having trouble finding workers now, and they want to put the ones they do have out the door?

Oh Yeah, that makes sense.

I did get the Pfizer 2-part and have no problem letting the bosses know. I really do not need the job, but I'd go stir crazy in these plague times if I stayed at home most of the time.

1 of our long term employees is adamant that he will go elsewhere if they do enact this.

I can imagine the lawsuit bait this will be if the Federal courts completely over turn Executive Branch over reach.

And I wonder what happens to the Lowes employees in Florida where the governor signed a bill against private companies mandating vaccines.

We got an email today. Lowe's is backing off of requiring the vaccine in light of the Federal Court decisions.
However, they are not backing down on the requiring one to report one's vaccination status.
Unvaccinated can stay on the job, IF they wear a mask and get weekly testing. As I understand, Lowe's does not pay for the testing.

There is some question if the Reporting requirement violates ADA on some level .... one of the lawsuits posted recently had this point as one of the multiple objections .... I just can't remember which lawsuit

My employer is mandating this as well ... I am not going to play along

Vaxxed / UnVaxxed all spread Covid ... the Vaxxed are filling up the hospitals at this point as the Delta Variant kiss their ass

this is a virus, by the CDC's Own NUMBERS that has a 97.8 % survival rate

My primary care doctor opined that the bug I had for several days around Labor Day weekend may have been a COVID variant.

How come? The Maryland Essential Workers Protection Act states
3-1607 (B) IF AN ESSENTIAL WORKER’S HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE OR OTHER BENEFITS DO NOT COVER THE COST OF TESTING FOR A CONTAGIOUS ILLNESS OR DISEASE, DURING AN EMERGENCY, THE ESSENTIAL EMPLOYER SHALL PAY ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THAT TESTING.
