Here is the link How to manage .pst files in Outlook 2007, in Outlook 2003, and in Outlook 2002 you want to read managing the .PST file.
You can search your C drive for the .PST file and copy it to the external disk as well.
The .PST file is the file that contains the e-mail, contacts and calendar info.

Thank you. I'm not understanding the steps, so I will wait for my hubby to get home from work to help me. If you want to know where I'm stuck at, it is step 10 on "How to make a backupcopy of a .pst file".
How about the internet bookmark pages that I wanted to save as well?

Can't you just bring up the page, copy and paste the link to a WP document or something? Same with email addresses?

Bookmarks - one set for each user, so they are;
c:/Documents and Settings/$USERNAME/Favorites <- those are your bookmarks, it will have a "star" next to it.
PS - Plug in the name of the user you are logging in as into the $USERNAME
PSS - Your PST file is in; C:\Documents and Settings\$USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
To get there, you have to view hidden files... that is under (in a My Computer window) Tools | Folder options | View tab, go under "Hidden files and folder" - check "Show hidden files and folders" - that will allow you to see the "Local Settings" folder under your username...

Yes, the GATEWAY is POS!
DORS gave me this computer FREE because I was in college and DORS only gives out cheap POS computers. I figured since it have everything I needed to do my homework and attended my online classes, then it is good enough.

Um, no thanks. This hard drive is very bad. Also, it is not a very good computer. It is very simple and cheap POS.
I am planning to wipe the hard drive clean and start over. That's another reason why I need to save all of my files onto the external hard drive, so I can transfer them.
Right, but if you are already getting a new computer, attaching a second hard drive (i.e. the one with all your files on it) won't have any negative effects...as besides HD speed there isn't really anything to slow down a new computer...and since you will already have a primary HD, the speed of the second one won't matter at all.

To make a backup of your internet bookmarks just "Export" them to a bookmarks.htm file.
In IE, go to the File menu, select "Import and Export" (I'm still using IE 6 for NMCI), choose Export Favorites, choose your Favorites folder, and then Export to a File (choose Browse, and select your desktop or onto your external hard drive) and select Save.
When you want to restore your bookmarks, just "Import" the bookmarks.htm file into IE or even Firefox.
Pretty easy.......

I know she is using Outlook 2002 - that is why I posted the link to the KB article...
I am pretty sure she is using IE, that's why I gave her the steps to copy the "favorites" from Documents and Settings.
