F Drive Issues

Wasn't sure if I should put this in the Technology section or in here. So, let me try here first as I am sure that someone will see this and possibly be able to help me.
I am trying to upload my pics from my laptop to someone's SD card. It's in the F drive now. I've right clicked on every pic and sent it to the F Drive (the light on the drive lit up). But...when I put the card back in his camera the pics were not there.
What am I doing wrong?

My thought is that with most camera's you have to format the card for THAT camera so it may be because the pictures were taken with a different camera. See if you can make copy's of them and save them as JPEG's to your desktop then try to put them on his camera. See if that works. That is the only thing I can think of. I could be wrong, but most camera's have to have their cards formatted specifically for that camera.

Do you have to right click on it in the lower right hand system tray and say eject? Sometimes the same thing happens with my USB drive if I pull it out with out ejecting it.

I tried the same with 3 different cameras and found this: The SD card formatted for that camera has a folder in it, i.e. DCIM, inside is another folder specific to that camera, i.e. 100ncd. if the pictures are not placed in that specific folder that the camera places its pictures it will not be able to show them. The pictures are probably on the SD just not in the same place the camera looks for the pictures. When I placed them in the correct folder I could move them between SD cards and view them on different camera's.

I am almost certain that's the problem...

One of my SD cards has a slide lock on the side and if it is locked, I can only look at the pics and not download them. Does your card happen to have the slide lock on it?

It was someone else's card and I gave up last night. They are on the card and he can look at them on his computer when he gets back home. Or he can just take the card to a Wal*Mart and print them out there.
