Failing

Is there a limit on how many times the school can fail a student? He has already failed once (don't know the reason) and his parents recently talked to the school (I figure that can't be good). My son was in 1st grade with him so he's 7 or 8 now.

My cousin failed two grades. He simply had no motivation to do any of his work.

Well, I'm always hearing about this "no child left behind" stuff and pushing kids through school when they are not prepared. He was in my son's 1st grade class and we just happen to find out that he failed because we stopped by the classroom while we were at the school meeting my son's 2nd grade teacher. He loved his 1st grade teacher and wanted to say hi. He also plays soccer in the same league as my son so we bump into him at soccer games.

Just from observing him, he seems to act younger than his age. Not that 7 and 8 yr olds are all that sophisticated, but he acts more like my 5 yr old than my 8 yr old.

:nono: That's not what "no child left behind" is about. Everyone takes the name out of context. Please read the link so you can better understand.

Then why do you care?

Because he seems like a good, sweet kid and it's sad that he's struggling in school. No, in the grand scheme of things, I really don't care because he's not my child. But he is known to my son so therefore I do have certain interest in people my son is associated with.
