Farming Industry in SoMd would BOOM once again!

“People hear ‘hemp’ and right away they think marijuana, and it’s not. Hemp is a very viable renewable resource that’s not being farmed and grown in America. It can replace pretty much everything we use on an everyday basis – plastics, fibers, textiles, fuel. The list goes on and on,” said Cote.

“There’s no drug value. There’s no THC.”

you don't really think there's no Hemp or weed grown in SoMD, do you? Where do you think the supply for DC & Baltimore comes from? Haven't you seen Amish mafia?

There's little to no THC in Hemp. Meaning, you can't get high on it.

If people are growing it, it's not to "supply" Dc and Baltimore.

As was explained to me, "they're going to hide the pot in the hemp field since they look alike".

Chris doesn't understand simple concepts like that. Don't mind him. That's why I didn't bother responding to his post.

I didn't say I agreed, that was just the justification that was used. Personally I think it was a poor excuse to outlaw a lucrative cash crop.

I remember reading an article in The Enterprise in the early 80's. It was when the first F 18s (I think) came to the base for testing. There was an article about the tobacco harvest and it mentioned the total agricultural crop value in St. Mary's county. The article about the plane showed that one plane was worth more than the total ag output of the county.

We need to plant more airplanes.

Why can't we go back to farming tobacco? That payoff was bull####... If someone wants to smoke up and kill themselves then so be it. That's why I hate those truth ads... I mean seriously this county pisses me of off. I wish it would go back to when all we had was a Walmart... Hell just a Kmart. I liked it back then. The way this world has changed is pissing me off. People complaining about everything and worry about everyone's business. Like this #### in Syria... Seriously? Why not fix this ####ball of a country first were illegals get more rights then working class folks. People should be able to whatever the hell they want on their own god damn land that they pay taxes for. The law needs to stay outta people's business.

Ok I'm done.

I know. But that's exactly what would happen. It's just a matter of whether or not anyone cares.

afjess -- I saw tobacco just the other day. People around here still farm it.

If you can find a copy of Reefer Madness (Lexington Park Library has it), give it a look. Not for the film, which is a hoot... but for all of the propaganda material included. Government sponsored programs to grow hemp when Manilla sources dried up. Some of the clips really are historically informative.

Not as much as they use too. Back in the day I could drive down friendship school road and all the Amish would have tobacco.

not like growers don't hide it in basements, green houses, barns, corn fields, forrested areas..... and probably out in the open.

Legit medicinal growers have to abide by strict guidelines to be able to stay in business, I would assume that if Industrial Hemp was legalized they would have to follow similar guidelines as well.
