Fat Farm

A friend is EXTREMELY overweight. I have heard of "fat farms" where they actually go away for a while and stay there. Anybody familiar with this and any recommendations of where to go?

I think perhaps the kinder term is weight loss camp..and there are several geared towards adults. I believe there is one in north carolina..but they are spendy.

I know Kris has lost a TON of weight!!! Not sure what she's been doing, but I'm sure she wouldn't mind sharing her secret!

Have you considered the buddy system? A talk of caring and willingness to help and stand by their side is first step. No cost but time and great benefits for all. Go with him/her to their Dr. appointment. Find out what exercise to start with safely according to amount of obesity and health issues of your friend, usually walking is the answer at first.

Encourage... praise..discuss and plan meals together etc. Be there... only a phone call away at most. Much like AA. Research everything for your own increased knowledge. If you are one of the lucky ones out there that don't have a weight problem, you will also benefit from eating healthier and anything else you learn along the way. Such as an increased abundance of compassion for your friend and others and the hard road that they have traveled.

What, you don't want to take responsibility for your friend's weight and monitor her food and exercise 24/7?

Some friend you are....

Nobody said accept all responsibility nor mention 24/7. I know someone who did it for their friend and it helped her considerably. It was only a thought on the thread topic and the mention of the other costly alternatives.

Thanks for the sarcasm though.Your input I'm sure was more helpful than mine. You have a great day. ;)
