The department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision that happened Friday afternoon in Fort Washington. The deceased driver’s name will be released once he is identified and his family is notified.
On June 4th, 2021, at approximately 2:45 pm, patrol officers were called to the area of Palmer Road and Potomac Heights Drive for a single-vehicle collision. The preliminary investigation revealed the decedent was traveling westbound on Palmer Road approaching Potomac Heights Drive, when for reasons that are under investigation, the driver lost control of the vehicle, crossed the double yellow line and struck a tree. The driver was taken to a hospital where he was pronounce dead.
