I'm always concerned this will happen locally in California/Lex Park. 235 is their private raceway with no police intervention. The racers get what they deserve, but I really feel for the innocents in this.

Just spoke with the nephew, who was told by someone who knows one of the highway workers, apparently, the deceased was not one of the racers. It was an innocent.

yep!

In the Stickland murder they could see across the street - might be helpful, and I am pretty sure I was told the picture was pretty good on the camera. It wasn't like the crappy grainy footage we see often.
I don't recall that incident.

Hard to believe it has been almost 10 years ago. Until I looked it up, I just didn't realize how long ago it had been.

Anyway...

Fritz said the state’s case would show that Quade was subsequently identified by a police officer from a surveillance tape taken from the Apple Basket store across Route 235 from John Baggett Park on the trail. Fritz said that when Quade was confronted he continued to change his story until he ultimately confessed.

Deceased was a friend of a friend. So sad and pointless.

KILLER CORVETTE DRIVER Michael Anthony Carlucci has a record of DWI, driving without a license, sex offense, and assault; killed Jalesa Wilcox in a possible race contest with a Mustang

LAUREL GROVE, MD. – A crash on Maryland Rt. 235 that took place on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 1:44 pm, killed one person and the suspected at-fault driver in a trauma unit, while police are seeking information about a Mustang that was in the area of the crash, opening the possibility that an illegal car racing scenario may have been involved in causing the crash. The driver that caused the crash has a history of DWI and assault, according to court records, is a sex offender and a lifelong dirtbag.

According to police, the crash occurred when Michael Anthony Carlucci was apparently speeding southbound on Rt. 235 (Three Notch Road) in a 2020 Chevy Corvette and rammed into the rear of a 2000 Toyota 4Runner operated by Jeamine Eugene Barnes, 50, of Hollywood, Maryland. Police say Carlucci’s Corvette struck the rear driver’s side of Barnes’s Toyota and then careened into a 2008 Toyota Camry operated by Jalesa Wilcox, 33, of Lusby, resulting in all three vehicles slamming into a berm along the side of the highway near the intersection of Mount Zion Church Road.

This guy has been a regular in the legal system for decades.

The only good thing is that he didn't die, and can be held accountable, and maybe rat out the other driver, but that's a far shot. I hope justice does the right thing.
