PGPD Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Chillum Under Investigation

The department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that took place Wednesday night in Chillum. The deceased pedestrian is 57-year-old Maria Quinteros of Hyattsville.

On June 22, 2022, at approximately 9:00 pm, patrol officers were called to East-West Highway and Riggs Road for a collision involving a pedestrian. Once on scene, they discovered Quinteros in the roadway. She was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The preliminary investigation reveals the striking SUV was heading eastbound on East-West Highway when it struck the victim. The driver of the striking SUV remained on the scene and was not injured.
