The department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that took place in early July in Palmer Park. The deceased pedestrian is 53-year-old Jackie Monroe of Hyattsville.
On July 5, 2022, at approximately 10:40 pm, patrol officers were called to the 8000 block of Barlowe Road for a collision involving a pedestrian. Once on scene, they discovered Monroe in the roadway. Monroe was taken to a hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries on July 9th.
The preliminary investigation revealed, Monroe was in the roadway, attempting to cross the street, when he was struck by a car heading westbound on Barlowe Road. Monroe was not in a crosswalk at the time. The driver remained on the scene following the collision.
