This is just an observation.

I want to throw away everything they don't use, or donate it. They refuse to let go, and keep buying. Meanwhile it collects dust.

I'm ready to light a match.

Anyone here male or female who has the same problem?

You should consult with the husband first, because you know, they usually have deep anxiety concerns.......

My ex-husband probably still has concert t-shirts from when he was in high school. My current husband has several t-shirts that have holes in them and are almost threadbare - yes, he still wears them.

I think it's just a guy thing.

For the most part, you're right. A lot of guys won't admit that they are packrats; that they don't want to discard items that bring back memories of good times, funny moments, in the past. You look at a box, a crate, containing an old item of clothing, that you can't even fit into anymore, but it's a bit of memorabilia, something you don't want to let go of, because every now and then, when you touch it or feel it, visual images haunt your recollection of past experiences. Pictures at a party, when you first met your significant other, what you might have worn that night, when you met for the first time - they stick in your mind, eh?

I know, it sounds goofy, right? :lmao:

GMHS NJROTC is having a yard sale this Saturday, why not donate to a good cause instead of throwing stuff away. So far we've only had one person donate and we could really use some more stuff. This is such a great program that has really helped kids grow up, get the right attitude and excel. The ad I put on classifieds expires in three days. Please help them out if you can. Thanks!!!!!!!

My family is the opposite! Son has been a neat nic forever. Daughter gives clothes away all the time, and Hubby will throw something out if it sits in one place more than a day!

I get rid of hubby's old clothes when he's not looking. He never seems to notice that they are gone. He has boxes still unpacked from when we moved here in 1997. I've started going through them and have thrown out alot too. I am pretty good about keeping up with the kid's stuff. Oldest one's clothes get packed away for the youngest to wear when they fit him. Youngest one's get put in a bag to be donated.

Nope, I'm not the packrat type.
