I was in HS at the time and played on my school’s hockey team. It was one of the most exciting sports events I have ever seen. You have to consider that back in those days Olympians were supposed to be amateurs. But it was a foregone conclusion that communist countries did not abide by these rules. The players on the USSR team were hired by the Soviet government to do one thing: play hockey for the Olympics. So you have some very seasoned players playing against a bunch of amateurs.

I always thought that victory was such a great tribute to the greatest of this country. The Olympics giving way to the pros – I believe those days are over. The Olympics are no longer all that exciting to me anymore.

I watched "Miracle" again last night. It always brings a tear to my eye no matter how many times I watch it.
