LEONARDTOWN – The Commissioners of St. Mary's County held their regular business meeting in the Chesapeake Building Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022.

The Commissioners began the meeting by recognizing the citizen members of 36 Boards, Committees and Commissions who have served over the past year.

The County Attorney's office received approval for a request to hold a Public Hearing to hear comments on a resolution establishing a St. Mary's County Police Accountability Board and a
St. Mary's County Administrative Charging Committee. The Public Hearing will take place Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. A formal notice of the hearing will be forthcoming.

The Department of Finance also received approval for a Public Hearing. The request is to receive comments on an ordinance for a supplemental appropriation totaling $4,000,000. The ordinance is needed to provide budget authority to move forward with the anticipated grants or other additional revenue. The Public Hearing will take place Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. A formal notice of the hearing will be forthcoming.

The County Attorney's office provided a legislative update detailing bills before the General Assembly in Annapolis.

The Commissioners approved the Department of Recreation and Parks' request to approve the Program Open Space, Local Parks and Playgrounds Infrastructure Funding development application for athletic field lights project Dorsey Park.

A request from the County Attorney's Office to repeal Resolution 2020-33 and dissolve the
St. Mary's County Youth Advisory Committee was approved.

The Commissioners next business meeting will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb.15, 2022, in the Chesapeake Building.
