Yes, Post Office will be closed as well as no mail delivery :( That means when I go back to work on Wed there will be Sun, Mon, and Tues mail waiting to be worked and delivered :jameo: --- oh wait - I already put in a leave slip for Wednesday! Hope they get it cleaned up so it won't be so bad on Thurs.

I don't think that the schools are closed. I heard it was just federal offices.

I don't plan on seeing the body either but a day of respect for a former president is nice. They did it for Reagan which I thought was really cool because he was a great man. I think Ford is getting out of respect for what he was not what he did in office.

I'm guessing that means the base will be closed as well? My hubby is down at Webster Field and we haven't heard any news on whats going on with work for him. If anyone has info or can point me in the right direction I'd be grateful. Thank you.

Is he a contractor? My husband is a contractor at Webster Field and he is working Tuesday. Does that help?

They called the recall list in our office and told us we had off.

However, if you work a job that would require someone to always be on duty, then you may be due for work.

Not sure.. My husband works at Pax River for DynCorp and he has Tues off. Guess it depends on where exactly on base one works.

It also depends on the contractor.

Also depends on how your contract is written. I work onsite at a govt installation and there have been times where I would have to report to my companys main office and work from there. We have a specific clause in our current contract where if the govt is off, so are we(at their expense).

Yea, seems like everyone is different. I got a call late yesterday saying that since our customer site is closed tuesday, we are not allowed to bill to the contract. So we have to take PTO or LWP on Tuesday. To me that sounds kind of odd. Especially since we have mission critical applications that require 24x7 support. The customer doesn't seem to mind paying us when we come in at 3am on Christmas, but yet refuse to pay because they elect to shut down?

He's a contractor with Honeywell. One of the other employees never heard they were off. He thinks they probably do have to work.
