Not a Lurker anymore!
Our one yr old cat was in a fight with our neighbors dogs two weeks ago. At first sight, there was no sign of any wounds, however she was covered in her own feces and moved very slowly when walking. She was taken to the vet within 2 hours of the incident.
Day one at the vet: Vet found no wounds...said kitty was probably just in shock and bruised. Sent home.
Day two: Kitty was taken back to the vet because we found a small "hole" on her back end. Vet said it was an absess. Cleaned it out and send home on pain meds.
Day three: Hole is now huge. Went back to the vet. Absess was cleaned out and packed with sugar. Sent home on oral antibiotics, along with an injection of an antibiotic that lasts 2 weeks.
For the next 12 days- we visited the vet every other day for the absess to be flushed out..and re-packed with sugar. Vet said she was pleased with the results so far.
Today our kitty was scheduled for what we thought was her last bandage change before hopefully being able to be stitched up. Unfortunately, we noticed a new absess on her belly. This new absess was drained and cleaned at the vet and new antibiotics were prescribed. This makes a total of 3 different antibiotics.
So- next step (if the new absess doesnt respond to these meds) will be a culture and sensitivity test. Anyone been through this before? I've already paid out 1k for her treatment over the last 2 weeks...just trying to get an idea of whats in store for us.
Any home remedies help?
