My Chihuahua recently had a puppy (single pup). Her name is Amie and she is about 8 weeks old now, and will likely only get about 3-4 lbs. I didn't see any picture threads so I hope this isn't against the rules or something.

Anyone else got some pictures of their dogs/puppies please do share!

To be honest I'm not exactly sure if it is normal to have a single puppy, but I'm fairly sure it is abnormal. Amie's mother is one of five, and she was the runt. All of her uncles/aunts are about 7-10lbs, but her mother is only about 4-5lbs. So, I dunno. Here is a picture of the mother, Gizmo, and a picture of my hand when Amie was born just for a size reference. She was a very small puppy, even for a Chihuahua.

Oh what a cutie. I have never heard of a dog having one pup she must be super special.

Yes, one puppy litters are very normal for Chihuahuas.

To be within standard, a Chihuahua should be no larger than 6lbs. If over 6lbs, it is not considered a standard Chihuahua and would result in an automatic dismissal in the show ring.

Very cute pup. I just love the black and tans.

Also, since she comes from a line of Chihuahuas which are predominatly large, the puppy most likely will be large too even though her momma is very small. The larger Chis do make fantastic pets though.

Oh yes! I promised myself that I wouldn't get any more pets because the 3 dogs I have are already a handful, but how can I possibly let this one go! She is most definitely a keeper.

Edit: Thanks for the info that one puppy is normal. She does come from a line of Chihuahua's that are about 8-10lbs, but she is still much smaller than all her aunts and uncles were at 8 weeks. I got a feeling she will only be 4-6lbs, the normal weight as you said.

One more pic , just wanted to post this one because its one of my favorites. She is 2-3 Days old I think.
