Well to start, I'm pretty much deaf and what I do hear comes out like scrambled eggs. If it wasn't for closed caption I would have no use for tv. The DAV guy thinks I should take a toxicity test, he noticed how my hands shake. That may be on the horizon, I dunno. After being retired since 91 never once went to the VA for anything but it REALLY stews my ass to see guys with 3 or 4 years as titless waves getting 100% disability for sitting behind a desk. WTF did they get their dick caught in a typewriter?

I went to them wanting hearing aids, nothing else.

Dr visits and two different hearing test results came back some months later. 20% for hearing loss and 10% severe tinnitus. Equates to most of months grocery bill, I'd rather be able to hear but it is what it is.
No, no hearing aids. Should have put in for it in 1991 when I retired.

Do you have a VA disability rating? You could go to the VA clinic in Charlotte Hall. They have an audiology center and state-of-the-art, (the latest and greatest), hearing test equipment there, and you get immediate results.

How does this make you a mooch?

Freaking Biden has sent BILLIONS of our money to Ukraine and they piss it away on every other craptastic grift, when IN FACT our tax dollars are supposed to be going for things like supporting our veterans. Why should some illegal alien get more than an American who has served his country?

I have hearing aids, I seldom wear them. In crowds they are totally useless. If you have tinnitus it only increases the volume of the tinnitus.
Yes I hear fine , there is plenty of volume, but the words are mush.
As a joke a friend gave me some hearing amplifiers he bought from Temu for $4.95 I tried them out to see if they worked and they aren't half bad for watching TV.
The huge cost of hearing aids is theft IMO.

One day they will be at the dollar tree beside the reading glasses.

Also Naval Aviation, also have tinnitus most of the time. There are times when it gets so loud that I understand why guys off themselves. The severity of it comes and goes. I saw the ENT in Prince Fred on Tuesday. It was the 2nd of 2 days of being able to hear almost normally. The ringing - which sometimes sounds like 4-part harmony with different sounds in each ear - was barely noticable, and I could hear in stereo. The left ear has significant low-range loss all the time.

Personally, I'd rather have the high-pitched kind where you can't hear children and leftist women.

Anyway, I'd had an MRI done in November. When I talked to the ENT doc, she said "blah, blah, blah" and "blah, blah, blah." Which tells me that there's something surgical that could be done, but Medi-scare won't pay for it. But that's just a hunch.

I never even considered going to the VA. Never even crossed my mind.

I never wanted something for nothing.......... until it's gotten unbearable. I knew there were risk and this could be the penalty.
