Finally.... some excitement at the Olympics!

Man Wearing Tutu, Clown Shoes Dives In Pool At Olympics :jet:

ATHENS, Greece -- A spectator took a dive at one of the Olympic pool events, and security is increasing.

Security around the diving complex is being stepped up following the bizarre incident when a half-dressed spectator climbed onto a board at the diving competition and jumped into the pool. The man was wearing a tutu and extra-large clown shoes.

An Olympics official said, "A man very much in love with his wife wanted to show it so he bought a ticket, came inside and chose to dive in the pool."

The official said steps have been taken so it won't happen again, and there will now be security people around the field of play dressed in staff uniforms.

The fan's disruption turned the competition on its head.

The top-ranked Chinese duo Kenan Wang and Bo Peng appeared headed toward certain victory before the intrusion. However, after the incident, one of the Chinese divers landed on his back on his final dive and the team received zeros across the board.

Russian Dmitry Sautin then knocked himself on the board and American brothers Justin and Tony Dumais worked themselves out of a medal position with a missed landing.

I would sure love to know what the gymnastics judges are basing their scores on. That one Russian gal did NOT deserve her 9.6. :grrrr:

It didn't affect how the Americans did, though. They DID make mistakes against a Romanian team that performed flawlessly. My wife was hoping for a mistake in the floor exercises, vainly hoping for a win.

Mohini Bardwaj got screwed - her floor routine was a thing of beauty and a sight to behold. I thought she did better than Carly Patterson. Silver's not bad, though.

:yeahthat: I thought it was just me, but I noticed the low scores for Americans even when they did well.
