U.S. District Judge Paul W. Grimm today sentenced Michael Barry Carter, age 47, of Potomac Falls, Virginia, to five years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, on charges of wire fraud and investment adviser fraud, in connection with a scheme to steal more than $6 million. Judge Grimm also ordered Carter to pay a money judgment in the amount of the net proceeds he obtained from the scheme, which was at least $4,355,110.39.
