Matthew 6:19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Well, honestly.... I don't know which verses talk to me more.... being blind in one eye or being rich in this life.I'm blind in one eye now. Yep there are times when the world does indeed seem to be darker. In these particular verses though.... it's about being blind to those around you. You can't treat people like they are worthless and then claim to love God. After all.... God created them.... did God waste His time and talent?
Serving two masters.... God and money.... that's a topic that must have been on His mind a He walked up the side of the mountain that day. John the Baptist had been murdered because a callus rich bitch who was upset because John didn't like the way she was living her life. John had the nerve to tell her to "Repent".
Is your bank account fat and sloppy..... or fat with financial muscle?
Sure.... you can have lots and lots and lots of money.... There are good caring people with fat bank accounts..... but the money in their bank accounts continues to flow.... not just sit there.... there are good caring people who are generous.... giving to the poor.... helping those who are in trouble.... giving people a hand up.... their bank accounts are fat.... because they are using their financial muscles for good.
