Anyone have any info about the fire in Huntingtown this morning? 600 animals including 129 dogs on the property- 4 dogs died in the fire. Wondering if the people are ok?

600 animals?

I heard on NBC4 100 animals were rescued and 4 died. I am trying to find out which kennel...Fishing Creek, that's Calvert Humane Society..or was it a private kennel? It was a red building but it did not look familiar.

I'm wondering if it was Bed Bath & Bones which is on Stinnett...they have a red wooden barn/building.

I heard some of it on the scanner last night. I thought that they said
200 animals total and that 4 of them had perished. Didn't really catch the whole evolution.

Kim Owens...this is were I got my Chihuahua from last year. I also talked to one of the firemen that was on the seen. he said more like 45 dogs...animal control took them for safe keeping. alot of kitchen damage(house attched to the kennel) she bred chihuahuas and I think staffordshire terriers...she showed many of her dogs..also had some mini horses .

Hmmm...from my looking around and the attached link, I'll reserve my comments.

I won't.

Sounds like a 'mill' to me. That's ridiculous. You can't have that many animals and NOT breed indescriminately. I like the neighbors comment... Yes, too far I think.

If you can't or don't spend quality time with each and every animal, they are not pets, and you aren't doing them any favors... May as well have been living at a shelter.

My puppy was ..cough cough...going to be a show dog....but had her front dew claws...2 rows of teeth , uvieitis(sp?) and a skin infection....I felt like we rescued her, even though we paid a good price for her.I could not leave her there...she has an awesome disposition, very smart and very cute...I absolutly love her and feel great that she is in a wonderful home and not in a breeder situation...I ,of course was not allowed in the kennel to see the other dogs...did she pics of parents and met a couple relatives. All the dogs I did meet had great dispositions ..not sure how many animals you are allowed to have even with a kennel license...I agree , how can you care for that many animals

Wow out of all the dogs she had she wouldn't let you see the parents? That is not cool at all, it sounds like she is hoping the purchasers will fall in love with a baby and would not care if the parents were complete azzholes, that is if she really knew who the parents were. Yes it did sound like the puppy you got was a rescue case. I am glad it worked out for you.

It was totally against my better judgement. she was 8 months and skinny...all she wanted was for me to pick her up..I saw the skin infection..new what it was and that it came from a dirty cage, but I asked her about it...her response was when she went through her first heat she broke out in a rash....I of course, new that as not true.I know if the breeder will not let you see the kennel to RUN!! ..but I just could not leave her there...and I am so thankful I brought her home.my pup could not play with toys because her mouth was infected and did not even know what grass was. ..she said I could not go in the kennel because she had unvaccinated pups and was not sure where I had been...she has bred rottweilers, stafordshire terriers and chihuahuas for over 20 yrs.

:huggy: Amazing she is still in business! Hopefully the animal shelter will get all of these dogs vetted and send her the bill.

I just thank God more animals were not hurt. That is totally unbelieavable though how many animals they had on the property.

one day the dark will end
House fire? Breeding AKC standard? AKA Puppy Mill....AKA KARMA!
(saw it on Ch.4 news tonight.....) hope her license is revolked for the fire and not having a fire/smoke supression system.
If enough folks complain maybe this mill will be shut down.

Sad that 4 had to die in such a horrible way,.......
