Firefighters Joining War On Terror

Ubi bene ibi patria
" NEW YORK (CBS) ― New York's bravest are now training to become the eyes of the government. New York firefighters will act as lookouts for terrorism when responding to emergencies.

In times of emergencies, firefighters are trusted to help those in need - often putting their lives on the line to save others, but imagine having the FDNY telling police what they see in your or your neighbor's home.

Unlike the police, firefighters and paramedics do not need warrants to get into private homes and buildings - that is why there's a new push to make them an important part of the war on terror and crime.

The Department of Homeland Security is testing a program with New York City firefighters - the idea is to give fire departments a way to share intelligence information with the appropriate agencies - a system that did not exist before."

I would like to Thank the Associated Press for informing once again on any plan that might help to head off terrorism in this country.

Now they have turned the public against Firefighters. They have added one more danger to the already present danger Firefighters face. Did this story really require publishing?

By the way Firefighters cannot enter your home without your permission except to put out a fire.

You are correct on both counts. Also, if the Firefighters were to discover anything incriminating while "working under the color of law" it would be inadmissible unless you could get a judge to buy the fact that without the firefighter removing it from the building it would have been destroyed.

There are channels to go through, if a firefighter sees / finds something in a house that is not on the up & up. A fire marshal / investigator can be brought in by the fire dept and then the fire marshals office and call in police if needed.
